The Call

"Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else." – Exodus 4:13

If there is anything that we learnt from the outcome of the US presidential election of 2016, its that – God will use whom He chooses.

Has the Lord called you to do something for which you feel totally unqualified or unprepared? Are you standing at the border lines waiting for a sign? Making excuses like Moses did. Moses said to the LORD, "Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue." – Exodus 4:10

I would like to encourage you to step into the calling that the Lord has placed on your life. If God has called you to do something, it does not matter what others think of you. Or even if you yourself think that you are capable or not. All we have to do is surrender to His will. Step into that which He has called us to do. Live a life in obedience to his commands. And God will do the rest. This is faith. Fear and doubt will follow us down the aisle to our calling but we must never shrink back. The Lord is faithful. He will make ways where there are no ways and will turn the impossible into possible.

Finally, if we are in a place where we may not be certain exactly what it is that God has called us to do. We can ask Him! James 1:5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

In the meantime, we can all answer the call to love God and one another.

Here are some key points to remember:

  • It is God who qualifies us

  • We are to surrender to his call

  • We are to live a life in obedience to God’s commands

  • We are to do our best

  • God will do the rest

“For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10
