Which image are you looking at?

"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:.." - John 3:14

Where is your gaze? Where is your hope? Is it Image 1, Image 2 or Image 3?

IMAGE 1

The World Health Organisation.

With a logo of what looks like a snake on a pole and covering the globe. Also usually the icon to represent medical faculties such as pharmacies.

  • Working in their best known strength to stay ahead of the crisis and to provide us with much needed information.

  • Equipping their teams globally through their various medical efforts around the world.

  • Hospitals and medical teams around the world overwhelmed due to the limited resources available to support new cases.

  • Hoping to find a cure or vaccine as quickly as possible.

IMAGE 2

Moses lifts up the snake in the wilderness.

A type and shadow of Jesus Christ.

All who were afflicted by the snake bites as a result of their complaining and grumbling against God and Moses, once they looked at the serpent would live.

"Then they journeyed from Mount Hor by the Way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became very discouraged on the way.

And the people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and our soul loathes this worthless bread.”

So the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many of the people of Israel died.

Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you; pray to the Lord that He take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people."

After Moses stands in the gap to pray for the people and repent on their behalf, God gives Moses the remedy.

"Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.”

So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived."

IMAGE 3

The cross without Jesus on it.

Jesus is not on the cross. He is now seated in heaven at the right hand of God. (Romans 8:34, Mark 16:19, Luke 22:69, Colossians 3:1, Hebrews 8:1, 1 Peter 3:22, Ephesians 1:20, Revelations 3:21)

"Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake. Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.

And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” - John 12:30-32

Believing in Jesus - the key

"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:14

Everyone who believes in Jesus will live.

Not by good works or self-effort, or performance but simply by a genuine faith that believes that Jesus is the son of God who came into the world to save us of our sins.

Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification we were not able to obtain under the law of Moses (Acts 13:39).

Simply believe.

Salvation through the cross.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. " - John 3:16

Whoever looks on Jesus will be saved.

Keep your eyes on Jesus.

He bore our sins and sicknesses on the cross. (1 Peter 2:24, Isaiah 53:5)

He became a curse for us. For scripture says cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.(Galatians 3:13)

Prayer:

Father, I thank you for sending you son Jesus Christ to die for my sins.

I repent of all my sins and I receive Jesus into my heart as Lord and Saviour.

I set my eyes on Jesus as my healer, my deliverer and my saviour.

In Jesus name, Amen.
